Electronic Component Assembly Skills Course
This is a practically orientated course which has been designed to provide participants the opportunity to gain the necessary skills which coupled with on-the-job experience would lead to competence at NVQ Level 2 in Electronic Component Assembly.
Who Should Attend?
Personnel who have no previous experience in electronic component assembly skills who have just started or who wish to seek employment in the electronics industry.

Course Content
- Health and Safety in particular in an electronics environment.
- Introduction to Electronics.
- Tools and equipment and soldering techniques used.
- Practical exercises involving the following:-
• Soldering to various types of terminals
• Desoldering techniques
• Stripping & tinning and terminating cable ends
• Forming up cable looms
• Techniques in fitting solder joint protective sleeves
• Soldering axial, radial and multi lead components to printed circuit boards
• Inspection and testing of electronic component assemblies
• Rectification of faulty connections e.g. solder joints
• Alternative methods of connecting electronic components. - Introduction to and identification of typical passive electronic components. e.g. resistors, capacitors etc.
- Introduction and handling of semiconductor devices.
- Construction of complete electronic assemblies.
- Quality standards employed in electronic component assembly
